ASV was founded in Minnesota USA in 1983 with the development of an innovative rubber track machine, half snowmobile, half tractor called the All Season Vehicle (ASV) Track Truck.
The Track Truck’s rubber track system, using rubber wheels and tracks, offered the traction, stability, and low ground pressure needed to operate on soft, wet, muddy, rough, boggy, slippery, snowy, or hilly terrain. Unlike traditional steel tracks, the rubber track system did not cause damage to the surface it operated on, making it particularly useful for groomed, landscaped, and paved surfaces.
In 1990 ASV developed the Posi-Track multi-terrain (MTL) track loader which revolutionised the industry with its incredibly low 1.5 psi ground pressure.
In 1998, CAT invested into ASV under an agreement to jointly develop and manufacture a new product line of Caterpillar rubber track skid steer loaders followed by the release of ASV’s own R-series range in 2003.
ASV was subsequently acquired by Terex who continue to manufacture and develop the ASV “non-metal core” MTL undercarriage, although now marketed under their own Terex branding.
